Hello all as you can tell im an Aussie and a hardcore Bucs fan but my problem today is with NCAA 2005. You see we don't get the title here in Australia (like Madden) so i got a copy from OS the problem is a have no instuctions (AHHHH). So im asking fellow Bucs fans and gamers to answer some of my questions, all answers will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance AussieBucFan... :winkretro
1. Why when i rush the line as a D-lineman does the O-lineman just push me flat on my face??? In Madden you get held UP more and then you can use you're D-line moves.
2. I kind of get this one but it's the points system you have to use to recruit players and the like. Ok so i think the more points you use the more convicing you're plea, but is there a certain point the player will accept at (eg: 38 points) and do you have to bid for a player in each round or just the one???
3. I found when i play even with bad schools with bad defences i can hold the computer to a lowsy 20yards rushing and the qb will throw like 25-30 times but only completes maybe 7-10 passes. Does anybody have a slider setting that even's this out???
4. I noticed that some of the schools have stickers or markings that appear on a players helmet. What do these stickers represent and why do only some schools do this???
5. Redshirting players... What is the reason for this and should you do this in any year of their career???
Ok that's it for now i hope to hear from many
Thanks again AussieBucFan...

1. I don't know they just made it that way.....What I do is move my Left outside linebacker or my right outside linebacker up to the line and rush with that. Nobody picks up the guy and u can get sacks very easily. It's a little harder to do on Heisman setting but it will still work once in a while.
2. The points system is confusing. If a player is interested go after them first. If say you go after the best overall player and use the max. 60 pts for that player they still might not be interested. I guess it depends how many pts you have to spare. If you need a top WR really bad and are pretty set at other positions u might go after the top WR's and use as many pts as possible. Eventually one of them will commit. You have to bid for the player each week. The more u bid the more they are interested and will commit sooner.
3. Try playing on the Heisman setting. Almost every team is tough in that mode and you won't hold a bad team to 20 yards offensively. If you do maybe u are just that good :D
4. Ohio State has something called a buckeye......other schools do it as well. What it basically means is everytime a player gets a good block, scores a Td, makes a clutch kick, makes a big time play they get a sticker on their helmet. Not all teams do it in real life.
5. You want to redshirt a player if for instance u have 3 QB's and u just recruited another QB. If you think ure player is not going to get any playing time that next season you want to redshirt them. It basically saves them a year of playing time. Most of the time you only redshirt freshman. But if u have 3 senior RB's and 1 Jr. RB u might want to redshirt ure Jr. RB so he can come back for 2 more years and play for u.
Hope that helps.......NCAA is probably the best sports game i've ever played

Wow all my questions answered by one man im impressed. It all seems to make a little more sense now. I had a pretty rough idea about most of them but without the instruction booklet you just never know what you're missing out on.
As for the game setting im just trying to find that even ground were the D and O opperate at a real life level. Problem is i can also rush with an average of 5 or 6 yards a carry no worries but my WR's drop even the easiest of catches. If i go all the way up to Heisman i can only see a 2 catch a game thing starting to happen, but i'll keep messin with it till it's cool.
Thanks OmahaKings you were a great help and good luck trying to keep Predrag Stojakovic for next year with the Kings, rumor has it he wants out. Hey maybe a trade for Vince Carter might work???

That's true, I hate that I play as Nebraska and it seems like it will be a perfect pass and they guys are wide open but they drop it. Every receiver has butter-fingers. I think I figured out the trick though. What you want to do is when the ball is right next to the receiver push Y (on xbox) and u will "user" catch the ball. They almost catch it everytime if u do it correctly. Maybe that will work better for you.
And yes, I hope Peja stays :biggrinre .......Vince always seems to get hurt and I can't see Toronto trading a ticket seller like Vince for a boring dud Peja even though he's a hell of a shooter.

As far as rushing the passer with a defensive lineman, if you just hold "sprint" (0 on PS2), he will just shove you down. It has'nt happened to me while using the spin or other moves.
As far as recruiting goes, start with the "interested" list. The amount of points you use on each player depends on how bad you want them, how many points you have left, and where they are from. Recruits from far away take more points than ones close, and all have a maximum (In-state is 15). After the first week, start with the "current targets". Keep recruiting them and then if you have points left over go back to the interested list and pick a couple there. Make sure you change your "pitch" each week. And towards the end (week 4 or 5) look and see which pitch(s) is working and use that one again.
One thing to keep an eye on is setting the school budgets. And make sure you suspend players that screw up. I've been put on 2 year probation twice. They cut your recruiting points. :( :D
