This is a ridiculous idea and all Bucs fans need to voice concern NOW to both BUCS and TAMPA SPORTS AUTHORITY. As proposed, they intend to search EVERYONE -- children, old ladies, handicapped, etc. THIS IS UTTERLY STUPID. It will be impossible to have 65000 people empty pockets and do patdowns and still get into the stadium to see the game! Telephone TSA at 813-350-6500 or fax at 813-673-4308 NOW!

If they're that concerned, then spend $$ and get metal detectors like the airport.

I understand what you're saying, but it's not that simple. Some of the Talking Heads on the radio have made a big issue of searching people, violating their rights, taking too much time, blah-blah, without taking in the whole picture. Would this come to pass, it might become a logistical nightmare, but I would think that with advance warning and plenty of preparation, things could run smoothly. Remember that after Sept. 11th, what could be brought into the stadium was drastically curtailed. All most intelligent people have to remember is:
Come early.
Dress lightly.
Bring only what is allowed.
Cooperate and don't stand there and complain.
Most of the people who are going to be upset are those that like to stuff a few beer cans or minis in their pockets. Too bad.
As for metal detectors, that would be ok, if we were to worry just about metal objects. Too many lethal items can still be brought in. A simple, but efficient pat-down takes very little time. The only problem in this entire scenario is if they allow opposite-sex pat-downs. Don't think our local law-enforcement officials will go for it. Too much liability. It's a shame. Like the old song said, "The times, they are a changing".:(

I just don't see it happening. Even if they're thinking a few seconds per person you'd have to have a couple dozen people at every stadium entrance for it to not take 3 hours to enter the stadium. They already have bag checks but that only applies to a handful of people. And I agree with the previous poster about the liability issues raised by opposite sex pat downs. What they should do is install a metal detector for each ticket line. after your ticket is torn you step thru the metal detector. If nothing happens, fine. You're in. If it beeps you're asked to step aside (like at the airport) and then they have you unbuckle your belt and remove your shoes if you're wearing Doc Martens with steel toes.

At least a dozen teams already do this for every home game. You guys are the same people that would be yelling and screaming at the Bucs if some idiot did something. The sad thing is that you people use time it takes and that is is a "violation of your rights" as an excuse, when the real reason is that most of you are ****ed that you can't smuggle crap in the game (ex. beer, water, food). None of you have to go to the game. Give up your tickets if it is such a hassel to get their early. There are THOUSANDS waiting for yout tickets!!!

It is not the idiots we are worried about. The terrorists are very intelligent and well organized. If they desire to pull something off, it is as simple as having terrorists employed to search other terrorists who will commit the act. Planning to attack over 65,000 people on national television is a real threat, and TSA is trying to provide as much safety as possible. While it is no fun paying $3 for a bottle of water, items being brought into RJS has been restricted since September 11. All we are asking is that TSA consider the whether the searches are beneficial prior to initiating the policy.

A pat down search on everyone will not accomplish anything but stop a person from bringing in a can of beer or a sandwich. If a terrorist from a highly organized group wants to get something into the stadium, they will. There are parts of the body that people can bring things in that we don't even want to talk about or no one is going to search.

I have flown at least 6 times since 9/11. I have never had my bag searched or have been patted down. The reason I am saying this is because even the airlines realize it is ridiculous to expect to search everyone. Of course, they have metal detectors, but plastic explosives are not detectable, and the airports are not patting down everyone to search for such things.

Sadly, it is like everything else. They have to do something just to say they are doing something. For example, do you think it would have helped on 9/11 if only ticketed passengers were able to go to the gate. The last I heard those suicide pilots had tickets.

I would think it would be sufficient to institute such a policy for possibly a Monday night football game. The terrorist would probably want the most exposure, but sad to say, it's not going to be preventable. We are just not going to make it AS easy.

It's really a hard one to call. I just want to go to the game--GO BUCS!

Imagine trying to get into work on the largest Army base we have, that holds well over 68,000 troops. Every morning we go into work we have to go through a checkpoint while driving where they verify our ID card, and vehicle registration. I live a mile off post, and I have to leave some days at 5 in the morning to be there by 6:30. Try doing that for almost a year.

The "pat down" has more to do with CYA, NFL/owners?TSA liability protection than fan or stadium security. As others have said there are dozens of ways of causing terror and mayhem .
Say.....5 minutes after kick off terrorist show up at every gate and simultaneously shoot their way past the ticket takers and "security pat down" artists......or shoot their way through the tailgaters.....or fire into the stadium from 1/4 mile away.....on and on....

If we allow pat-downs, the terrorists have won.
