My XBOX is killing me! Last night I was watching a DVD and half way through it starts clicking really loud and doesn't stop till I turned it off. Then today I went to put Madden in and it said it wasnt an XBOX game. After blowing in there, putting a DVD cleaner in(that wasn't recognized) I am stumped!

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do?

How long has this happened? I had the same problem. Turned out that Microsoft shipped some faulty units and I ended up with one.

If you still have the warranty of it go ahead and exhange it.

It sounds like a bad dvd drive, the older xboxes are notorious for drive problems.

Started yesterday. Sorry for being a pain, but how do I go about exchanging it?

Call tech support. If you're warranty is still valid, they'll do it for free (with the exception of shipping, of course), if it isn't then you'll probably have to pay around $100.

And someone was saying they have NEVER heard/seen/ or had any problems with XBox and that is why its better then PS2. Hmm... :confused:

After so long, the PS2 drive also goes bad.

That's true

It happens most commonly to the early edition PS2s but it can also happen to the newer ones (although not as often)

my xbox does the "there is a problem with the disk your using it may be dirty or damaged" it takes me a good 7-8 tries(restarting each time) just to get to pick teams--- occasionall doing the "cannot recognize disk thing" but mine is an early XBOX. I could have sent it off for a new DVD drive for free(when i first got it), but i just got madden 03(i think) and couldnt go without it for that long(STUPID MISTAKE) i use a DVD drive cleaner disc and it helps a little-- IT SUCKS-- its real hard just to make it through a game and save it before it freezes up.

Only issue I ever had with my X-box is that it cant read the disk here and there...I just take the game out rub it on the shirt, turn the bxox off anf turn it on again and it works...Main reasons I like Xbox over PS2 is the fact I dont need any memory cards and I can burn all my music on the harddrive...
