View Full Version : Am I being cheap here?

I'm in a league that has 2QB, 3WR, 2 RB, 1TE, 1K, 2D, 2DB, 1DL, 2BENCH:
So, I've had injury problems at QB and WR and I don't want to outright drop anyone, but I have three guys who won't be playing...so what I did was drop two defensive players and picked up two offensive players, and just left two of the defensive positions empty for the week. This is a league with all of my buddies, and they all accused me of "being cheap" and cheating. I looked at the rules, and there was no rule stating you could not do this...I thought it was ingenious. Anyhow, to ease the crying I reset my line-up and now I'm screwed for a few weeks...
Any opinions?

I see nothing wrong with it. You're just trying to keep the guys you want until they are healthy. It's the same as if you were to pick up an injured player, waiting for them to get healthy. I did just that with Anquan Boldin. I also picked up Ricky Williams when I heard he was trying to get back in the league. I have since dropped him though.
Here's the thing... it's your team that you are managing. If you forego the points your defensive guys would have made in favor of retaining your star players while they are injured, that's your perogative. Unless it states anything in your league rules against it, keep doing it as long as you wish.

Don't listen to what your mates say if you want to to it, it do. If it were aiganst the rule the would have been stopped from doing it at all.

The more it upsets them, the more likely it's the right move. Just upset they didn't think of it first!

hehe, that's right about the more it upsets them...
At the beginning of the season, a day before the first game, I offered a trade to a real life friend of mine who is in my league. The trade was he gets Duce Staley and Amani Toomer and I get Terrell Owens. I was way deep at RB where he was weak and I wanted an elite WR so we both liked the trade.
After the first game my friend was crying foul. hehe He didn't complain too much though. I even offered to trade back, since he's my friend, but he declined.

If they think it gives you such a great advantage then they should do the same. Smart move by you. D players are not reliable and so they are expendible in an emergence. Still, you are sacrificing points and should be alouded to play that tactic. If you where droping your D players for know reason then it would be cheap and cheating. Dumping players is against the rules, but that isn't what you are doing.
