Dont know where this goes but:

Heres how to speed up Firefox:

1.type about:config on the address bar and do these

2.Network.dns.disableIPv6, true

3.network.http.pipelining, true

4.network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, 100

5.network.http.proxy.pipelining, true

6.Right click anywhere, go to interger and type in:nglayout.initialpaint.delay, after that put in 0 *must be added as a new integer*

7.signed.applets.codebase_principal_support, true

first 5 is to speed up the surfing and the last one is to allow u to copy the script from

irc search pages

Heres how to speed up the internet in general on Win XP Pro and 2ooo.

How to enable 20% increase in bandwith ON WINDOWs XP PRO and 2000 PRO:

Windows uses 20% of your bandwidth! Get it back

A nice little tweak for XP. Microsoft reserve 20% of your available bandwidth for their own

purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc..)

Here's how to get it back:

1.Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc" without the "

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

2.Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS

Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth

3.Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth

is under the 'Explain' tab :

"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a

connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."

4.So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.
works on XP Pro, and 2000
other OS not tested.

Enjoy, it is an incredible increase.

Paste this URL to test your connection, it should tell you your connection compared to other internet connections.

Thanks Grendal.....I use Opera, not Firefox....so the first part didn't apply to me, but I didn't realize that XP reserved 20% of the bandwith...how stupid.

If you've got any tips for Opera, please share :D

I wouldnt know about Home, but if I had to guess I would say yeah. Theres probably a different way how to free up the space on Home.
