Depends on who you listen to, just like any other kind of music. Go and listen to Mos Def, or Talib Kweli, or A Tribe Called Quest, and tell me they don't have talent. You can trivialize any genre of music and discount it off-hand or mock it if you want. I'll continue to keep an open mind, and reserve judgement for something based upon my own experience with each piece of music, rather than dismiss it based upon a label that someone else provides.

There are good rappers and bad, just like for every good rock band, there is an equally popular rock band like Kiss, who, if you don't like rock, you would probably just dismiss and say that all they sing about is meaningless drivel like partying and sleeping with women - and you would probably have some space to justify your opinion as well. But to go and say all rock during their time was the same, and unoriginal is plain ignorance...Unless the genre you're talking about is disco :D
