So I was in a local mall yesterday, and passed by a video game store. I decided to go in to see if they had any info on when Madden '06 would be released, and they had a sign that said 9-27. Does this seem rather late to anyone else, or is it just me?

A little late?

Ahhh... deadlines and customer satisfaction are only concerns of companies that don't have a monopoly.

Sorry... it still erks me that the NFL, a company who's product IS competition, would squash it by giving EA an exclusive license.

I agree. But since it's happened, you have to look at the brightside. Perhaps it will inspire EA with more ideas and things will just keep getting better...

I saw that too, which is what's confusing me. I want to believe it will be out in early august, but why would a store advertise it as coming out a month and a half after it actually does?

Me too. Madden was always the second-best football game for me, and from now on, the only. Well, it's sad but I can live with that.

Exactly, it was hard enough getting Tim Brown on my Bucs team last year.

Almost a summer tradition for me. Pre order NCAA Football at EB Games in late June. Pick up NCAA FB in mid July, pre order Madden. Pick up Madden in early August. This is my first year with no college to prepare for, my career yes, but not college preperation stuff to get in the way of Madden. :D

A head's up for any Medal of Honor fans like myself. MOF: European Assult is set to be released this week.

Did I ever say that I wanted it to come out in August? No. I merely made an observation on what I saw. I knew about the EA website, thank you very much, and the conflicting dates caused confusion. Never once did I say that I thought it was coming out in September. Again, your reading comprehension is questionable, and if you're gonna tell somebody to read everything you said, maybe you should take your own advice.

Exclusive control by one group of the means of producing or selling a commodity or service.

I stand corrected... its nothing like a monopoly...

It's nothing more than an exclusive agreement between two companies. Sega can still make football games, they just can't use the privately owned NFL teams, players, and stadiums. If EA was the only one that could make football games, then you could argue in the case of them having a monopoly.

Sega coming out with a game where I control the Clearwater Pirates lead by QB Cleatus Lip****z is not making a competing product. As a consumer, there's no reason for you to not be outraged by this.

you should just find a friend who has the ps2 hooked up to the network, then you can go through that and get the roster updates

immediately after it was clear that he wasn't going to be playing, i decreased all of his attributes to zero, and he subsequently retired after that season was over.

Yes, but it is not a monopoly.

I suppose I should be outraged....but seeing as it's an exclusive agreement between two private companies that the government can not (well....should not) control, I'll just sit back and accept it. I always thought the competition between the two companies was good....but now its gone and it ain't comin' back.

The NFL has the right to sell it's liscence to anyone it wants to, or not. The NFL is an organization, not a public commodity.

If EA Sports were the only developer allowed to make a FOOTBALL game, that would be a monopoly. Football is not a private enterprise, it is nothing more than a game.

The NFL is not public property.

You kids are probably too young to remember back when pretty much NONE of the games had league liscences. Nobody was outraged then.
