This game is pretty much the same thing as last year with a fancy new wrapper. The new user interfaces are kind of spiffy and a change from last year. The main screen shows highlight clips from guys like Tim Brown, Ron Dayne, and Peyton Manning in their college years.

The gameplay hasn't fundamentally changed at all, with the exception that collisions look a little more realistic than they used to, and "impact players" on your team can shake tackles or break heads with a press of the "A" (or X on PS2) button. The new "race for the heisman" mode looks intriguing, I just haven't had much time to play it yet. The biggest surprise? A demo video for Arena Football 2006! I can't believe they are going to make an arena game...kinda cool.

All in all, it's a few new animations here, some new voicework by the announcing team, and more of the same.

Anyone else play this yet?

Nope, haven't played it yet. Waiting for a call from EB that it's come in so I can pick it up.

How's USF (Andre Hall, S.J. Green, Tim Jones, etc.)? Is the fight song in tact?

It's amazing to think how far the AFL has come.

I've heard its messed up, that if you sim all qb's get like 49 td's and 75% accuracy. any truth there?

So it's like every other game you've come to expect from EA in the past 4 years? ;)

Andre Hall is the main impact player for the offense. For some reason, EA decided Pat Julmiste was also an impact player. I'm not sure which Pat Julmiste they've been watching.

Rocky D. Bull also FINALLY makes an appearance. Long time NCAA players (i've bought every version since 2003, with Harrington on the cover) may have noticed that the USF mascots has never shown up.

Fight song sounds as sweet as usual. Ray Jay looks pretty nice decked out in Bulls regalia too.

Oh yeah, forgot to add that they also grade USF as a C+ in each category. Yikes!

I haven't played that extensively, but it wouldn't surprise me. The A.I. has always been a little crazy for the EA football games. Especially the whole "4th quarter comeback" thing - whenever i'm beating the computer soundly, it somehow manages to throw a touchdown, return an INT for a TD, and kick a 70 yard field goal, all within the last minute to beat me. Yick.

I normally buy both NCAA and Madden each summer. However this year with just starting a brand new job and now with a more serious personal life I just wouldn't have time to play both. Since Madden is always my fav, I just pre ordered it.

It's good to see they finally put Rocky in the game for USF. When someone gets the game, see if you can post a Rocky screen shot.

Julmiste, an impact player? Maybe for the opposing defense, but that's it.

Yep, I've been looking for Rocky for awhile. Good to see he's in there.

I'll be picking mine up today.

What's wrong with UCF's program? Are they having recruiting issues?

Is the Frosh USF QB CARLTON HILL in the game? I know they don't put the names on the players and I'm not sure what number they've assigned him yet. Normally you can figure out the player by their class and measurements...here's Hill's: Freshman, 6-3, 215.

I beat 'em pretty handily. :D

They're going to be better soon, IRL.

I think his number might be #1 he's probably the #2 QB, IIRC.

Anyone else get trampled by Penn State? I only lost by 77. lol

That was on All-American difficulty. I tried playing in Heisman mode and couldn't even complete a pass or gain a yard.

Love the game though.

ok let me tell ya what happened. First off, I was playing on varsity mode, I know it was easy but I like owning the computer by 115 every game. I did RFTH as a starting scrambling QB and just shattered all records. I smashed 15 records and 3 of them were career in one season. I passed for over 5,000 yards, rushed for over 4,000 and had 122 total tds with him 56 passing and 66 rushing. Only threw 2 picks and my RB won the Heisman. He didn't have as good of numbers as my QB. He had 46 total tds and just over 2000 rushing yards. I'm thinking that since he was a senior he got the heisman and they were thinking that I had at least two more years to get it. Another thing, every week that I played, my QB got player of the week honors. I won the Maxwell and of course went undefeated. By the way, I was FSU of course. I just thought that it was interesting. On a side note, I had 3 of the top 5 heisman candidates lol. My returner had 16 punt returns LOL and 32 total. Please don't rip on me for playing on such an easy mode. I like hearing them say, "he just rushed for 300 yards and its still the first half!" LOL Guess who I played for the national championship...Texas Tech! LOL number 3 was Arizona State.

What is the goal of the linebacker drill? I'm doing Race for the Heisman and I'm trying to improve my player by doing drills, but nothing happens. I don't know what I'm supposed to do other than not let the RB score.

As far as I know, that is just practice. You have to just play games to boost the ratings.

The do not use the players names. They are not allowed to for legal reasons. Just like if you buy a college player's jersey, they cannot sell it with the name on the back.

I didn't do USF but I did with Troy. I have no reason why except for the fact that they aren't too good! 84 wins thus far! I've gone through a year and a half of RFTH with FSU! Now that's my team!
