Player Equipment Issues
Player equipment on the collegiate and professional level seems to change and/or disappear as the years go by.
Pads are either a lot smaller or have been eliminated entirely. As a result, some think that it has increased the amount of injuries suffered by players. What are your thoughts?

Former Redskins legendary RB from the 70's, John Riggins, a guest on Inside the NFL this last week, said the same thing. That, for instance, today's RB's wear much less as far as leg protection.

And, it DOES seem like not serious, but nagging injuries are up. There was someone a week ago that was wearing some HUGE thigh pads.... someone in Washington? I seem to remember a Zorn comment....

I think most players are trading pads for a little extra speed. I believe that today's player is willing to use smaller pads, or no pads at all to have the advantage in speed. The problem is, there is nothing unethical about players who choose to wear less pads, IMO.

I have noticed that there are more players lately wearing less pads or thinner pads. I do think that is to hopefully be a little faster, and also it is more comfortable. I think for now it is ok.
