Detroit Start Shaun King!

Lions | Quarterback position up for grabs
Wed, 22 Mar 2006 13:13:46 -0800

Chrissie Zavicar, of DetroitLions.com, reports the Detroit Lions will continue to keep four quarterbacks on their roster and each will be given a shot at the starting position. Detroit has signed three free agent quarterbacks this offseason, Josh McCown (Cardinals), Shaun King (Cardinals) and Jon Kitna (Bengals), in addition to second-year QB Dan Orlovsky, who was with the team in 2005.

Everyone, what would you think of Shaun Started?

Pretty sure it'll go to Kitna or Orlovsky.

King will be lucky to be there opening day. He has no chance, barring injuries. He shouldn't be taking any reps away from the other 3. They need to see who'll start between Josh and Jon, and see whether or not they see any future in Orlovsky.

I would be indifferent really, but it would be nice to see a former Buc quarterback start under a former Buc coach.

I'd take Harrington over King.

McCown definitely has to be the favorite to win that job - with Kitna backing him up IMO.

I think that McCown will be the starter at the beginning of the season but King isn't a bad Qb but I think with the qb the Lions have he could be 3rd on the depth chart.

Okay, but seriously..... McCown looks great, Kitna is a very solid #2. They are not in bad shape in the QB department - not saying those guys will produce, because Detroit is pretty lousy. They may not have world-beaters under center, but McCown looks very very promising. Ryan Leaf??? Oh why, oh why?

Man, I love Shaun King. We hung him out to dry after 1 BAD GAME against the steelers on MNF. What, he was good enough to lead us to the playoffs, but now we hate him for some reason?! turncoats!

Yes they are

Quarterback
Kitna
McCown
Orlavsky (sp?)

King may get the nod over Mr. O but since he was in Detroit last year i think he can keep his job over King.

i always thought King was a good QB and I really thought he did a good job but it did seem like fans turned on him quick. However he wasnt and isnt going to be a long term starter in the NFL. he is a good back up but nothing that is going to get the team into the super bowl.

Detroit should absolutely, definitely, without a doubt start King.

That way, they can get another early first round draft pick next year and draft yet another WR.

Seriously though, Kitna is probably going to be the guy in Detroit. Many have said that Cincinati had a difficult time justifying his benching in favor of Palmer; after all, he had a really good year the year before being demoted to the #2 spot.

Either way, competition is always good; on the whole, it brings out the best in competitors.

for all of you that were involved in this discussion.....

Lions coach Rod Marinelli revealed his preliminary quarterback depth chart Wednesday at the annual NFL meetings. Jon Kitna is No. 1. "If we walked out today," Marinelli said, "he'd take the first snap." Josh McCown is No. 2. Dan Orlovsky is No. 3. And Shaun King is No. 4.

I was right....hahahahaha....

I was right....hahahahaha....

Let's bring this up again in September. I bet McCown wins the job in pre-season or TC.

King's hands are too small to start.

There's still plenty of time to trade Alstott before the season starts though.
