Jamie Winborn Signed Over Weekend?

I was talking to one of my patients in my clinic who works for NBC and he said Jamie Winborn agreed to a contract with the Bucs this weekend. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Wow, that would be a very good signing for depth at linebacker. He is only 27 and can play this defense, since he did with the 49ers for a few years before they switched over to the 3-4 last year with Mike Nolan. He has good speed for a linebacker and I believe he can play all three linebacker positions. I guess he wouldn't mind too since he isn't getting a lot of attention since he's been injured for the past few seasons.

Haven't heard anything but it would be a nice signing if true. He'd be good LB depth and fill the role Gooch had on ST.

If Marley has not heard about it, then it must not be true (at least not yet).

I've been pretty busy recently RB so I wouldn't go by my radar on this one.

He's still a young player as well. Would be a solid signing.

I like the signing. He's a young, fast LB that will fit the Cover 2 and bring some competition to the SAM spot. I've heard however, that he's very undisciplined and that basically cost him his spot in SF.

We'll see.

It could very well be true, Infinite, and just not reported yet. I mean, while Winborn would be a nice solid signing, he's not the type of FA that someone is just going to throw his name out simply joking around. We'll have to keep a look out.

If this is true Ryan Nece is going to be a second half player and special teams expert once again.

He's JV quality compared to Winborn. Who would you sit? Nece, Quarrels, Brooks, Ruud, Cooper, Winborn? I'd plop Nece in a second for Winborn based on open field tackles alone.

I'd rather continue to develop Marquis Cooper and Barrett Ruud.

Jamie Winborn is another Dwayne Rudd. And I think we all know how well he picked up on our defense.

Winborn is just a slightly bigger Nece with a higher pay check.

I'll keep Nece thank you. Again he had the 4th most tackles.

This is a bogus thread, Jamie Winborn is not a franchise player but he is a considered by the media a talented LB. With what he went through last year in SF, I'm sure if he would had signed with the Bucs, it would be on Sports Center, on the Bucs Web, ESPNnews, etc.

Any news on this? Is it bogus, or is the deal going down tomorrow?

Well, considering the day the thread was started, and the factthat the source is a patient in a clininc, let's hold off on printing jerseys just yet.

That would be the reason why the post is gone but thanks anyhow! After looking at this guy though he might be a real good fit in Monty's system at the right price.
