Dolphins | Team pursuing J. Walker
Thu, 27 Apr 2006 05:50:40 -0700

Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports the Miami Dolphins, according to a league source, have joined the discussion with the Green Bay Packers about acquiring disgruntled WR Javon Walker. Walker, who publicly has threatened to retire instead of again playing for the Packers, is under contract for the 2006 season. Walker is attending classes at Florida State University. Dolphins head coach Nick Saban was in Tallahassee Wednesday, April 26, talking with Florida State prospects in the draft, but it is not known if he met with Walker.
Could you imagine that offense?!?

QB - Culpepper
WR - Chambers
WR - Walker
WR - Booker
TE - McMichael
FB - Beasley
RB - Ronnie

Broncos | Team made an offer for J. Walker?
Thu, 27 Apr 2006 06:16:14 -0700

Eagles | Team making offers for J. Walker?
Thu, 27 Apr 2006 06:08:25 -0700

Bob Grotz, of the Delaware County Times, reports sources said the Philadelphia Eagles offered DT Hollis Thomas and a sixth-round draft choice to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for WR Javon Walker, but it appears the offer was not enough to get the job done. ESPN reported the Eagles offered the Packers Thomas and OG Artis Hicks. According to SportsLine.com, the Packers want a first-round pick for Walker.

They'll need it to keep up with what that defense is going to give up next year.

The defense isnt in bad shape... We tied for the most sacks in the league last season with 50.

The only weakness is the secondary... but we did an overhaul of it, so we will see how it does...

I think those sacks were a result of facing the Bills twice last year inflating those numbers. But the Dolphins should be much better now that they know Ronnie is the man. Plus, a healthy Culpepper (IF) would make Booker, Chambers and McMichael much more productive. I like their chances to win that division next year as I think the Pats feel the loss of Adam V. more than they ever thought it could.

Culpepper is making great progress... He is running and lifting weights on the leg... but I still dont think he will be ready to open the season(I dont want to rush him back). My guess is that he will be back around Week 4...

and a crappy o-line, and a culpepper that's not healthy, and average linebackers, and bad cb's, and no depth, and and and

Yeah I have heard that he is doing really well but i figured if you live down south in FL you probably hear more. I think it would be a lot wiser to kepp him out as long as needed to make sure he isnt rushed back and gets injured again.

I'm too lazy to look it up, I could be wrong, but I can't imagine Taylor not racking up 2 or 3 himself on Losman and co...

Our line isnt crappy at all. They improved tremendously last season. Cutting our sacks in half (2004-52... 2005-26)... and our RBs averaged 4.4ypc. They arnt a dominating line, but they hold their own... plus we upgraded our LT spot with LJ Shelton...

Average linebackers? In our 3-4 defense... our LBs are Jason Taylor(Pro Bowl last year), Zach Thomas(Pro Bowl last year), Channing Crowder(Steal of the draft last year), and Donnie Sparagan... Definatly above average to say the least...

We upgraded one CB spot with Will Allen over Sam Madison... but I will give you that the rest of the secondary is somewhat of a questionmark. Travis Daniels exceeded expectations as a rookie... but we will have to wait and see if he continues to make the strides he was making last season...

Prob... I just dont know where I could look that up. Regardless... 50 sacks is still ALOT of sacks... even if given a couple extra from the Bills...

Most likely focusing on the Secondary or OLB... and maybe some depth at DT...

5, 2 by Taylor. So that's not as high as I thought, I'll stand corrected on that one.

If the QB play Is good, then the fin's have a great chance of taking thier division.
Pat's have lost too much this time and the Bill' s and Jet's are rebuilding.

Fins had 49 sacks, looks like Oakland and the Jets got the most punishment.
7 sacks against Oakland in one game, 6 against in NYJ in another (2 more in the first game) 5 against N.O. Had 4 each against Ten. and Carolina.
After that it's 1-3 per game except against the mightly Browns who didn't give up any sacks to the Fins.

Actually, the Dolphins only recorded 5 sacks combined in the 2 games against Buffalo. They had more against the Jets in one game (6) than that.

Overall though, sacks are a horrible barometer of a defense's caliber. High sack totals just mean that teams are very willing to pass against your defense. The Seahawks, a horrendous defense against the pass because of their porous secondary and lack of good coverage LB's besides Tatupu lead the league in sacks.

I have to give Saban and the Dolphins credit for building a great team on paper. Only time will tell if it pans out in the regular season, but they look pretty damn good right now.

I have to say I am picking them to win that division this year. I think they are just like the NFC North now where any one of them could win it if the ball bounces their way in a few games. I usually would never pick against the Patriots, but I think losing not only a clutch kicker, but a WR who Brady could trust along with a RB in Dillon who is one play away from finally breaking down for good, I just don't think there is anything in the draft that is going to make them the clear favorite this year.

FinNasty, is Will Allen really an upgrade over Madison? I'm not poking at anything, just wondering. I know Madison was one of the better corners in the league a few years ago, but has his play really slipped that much?

It wasnt a MAJOR upgrade or anything... but based on our defense... it is an upgrade. He is getting pretty old. He is still solid... just wasnt a good fit.but The CBs in our defense need to stop the short/medium passes... because they usually have help over the top. Madison couldnt stop the short/intermediate stuff... but was good agasint the deep pass. Allen on the other hand, is good against the short/intermediate but has trouble with the deep pass...

On the other hand, Madison is a good fit for the Giants because they need a CB that can cover deep... because they dont give much safety help...

We basically traded CBs, and both upgraded... as wierd as that sounds. There was a great ESPN Insider article about the situation...

Oh, interesting, are the Dolphins running more of a cover 2 offense now? With throwing 3-4 in certain situations? If thats the case, then it makes sense. I'll look up that article, sounds interesting.

I found the article... you need insider though to read it...
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insid..._kc&id=2400426

As for our defense... even I have a hard time understanding what we do... because it is a hybrid and gives so many different looks and changes from play to play. They do mix in the Cover 2 with alot of other things... But the safetys are very important in the defense... and have alot of responsibility...
