Jeb Terry to start?

Roy Cummings, writing for the Sporting News, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers OG Jeb Terry is a dark horse favorite in the battle for the team's starting right guard position.

I think that we all might have forgotten about Terry admist all the talk about Joseph, Fonoti, Buenning, and Mahan. Where do you guys think he falls on the depth chart?

I can honestly say I didn't forget about him. After all, he won the starting RG job in TC and preseason last year, but then got hurt and had to be replaced by Mahan. So I would not be suprised if he would end up grabbing one of the starting spots again. He's a mauler and a tough guy. But it's difficult to predict how it will turn out, as Joseph, Terry, Fonoti and Buenning all are potential starter material. Mahan will likely move back to center.
My guess would be this scenario:

LG - starter: Buenning, backup: Fonoti
RG - starter: Terry, backup: Joseph

Umm... that isn't any sort of revelation. Joseph is the favourite, Terry is the underdog...

It's Terry vs. Fonuti. Winner backs up Buenning and Joseph, loser walks the plank. Mahan will be the second backup due to versitility.

No...never...hopefully the competition won't wear them all out. Personally, I want to see Wade and Mahan replaced but I don't know of anyone else that could play C then both of them. I'd be all for teaching Joseph, Buenning or Fonoti how to snap. Those are the 3 that I want to see on the field at the same time. Then Cadillac would see I4 sized holes.

I think that we are OK at the Guard.............I think we need more help at Tackle

I don't think any of us have seen enough of Terry's play to deem him worthy of that.

May the best man win - regardless of any other priorities (i.e. getting a rookie ready for NFL games), the best player should win the job. I'm personally pulling for Joseph and Buenning at the G spots with Davis and Kenyatta at Tackle, but with our Offensive line there should be no guarantees.

Mahan could definately win the starting job at center. And how can either of them face off? They're trying for opposite sides. There's a decent chance they could both make it, if the two show they can be ST impacts as well.

P.S. Its Fonoti.

I4 sized holes?! please use a better analogy..........maybe its just cause im from orlando but i dont want to see him rear ending his Oline and not gaining any yardage. Im sure theres a better analogy out there than the parking lot that is I4.

I think Terry is alot better of a player than Mahan, and Terry should be the one being groomed as Wades replacement at "C".

I would be surprised and dissapointed if Joseph and Buenning are not our starters at Guard. Tackle is wide open though...

2006:

LT-Anthony Davis
LG-Dan Buenning
C-Wade
RG-Joseph
RT-Walker

2007 and beyond:

LT-Davis
LG-Buenning
C-Terry (though it will end up beinh mahan)
RG-Joseph
RT-Trueblood

Jeb Terry has not shown us anything for the last two years that indicates he should now be a starter at one of the guard spots (especially with the talent we have at the position now). He should feel fortunate to even make the team this year.

The starters will be 2nd year player Dan Buenning and 1st round pick Davin Joseph. They will be backed up by former starter Sean Mahan, who will be groomed as John Wade's eventual replacement at center.

I see the team keeping 9 offensive linemen this year, and 7 of those spots are basically taken:

1. Anthony Davis (starting LT)
2. Dan Buenning (starting LG)
3. John Wade (starting C)
4. Davin Joseph (starting RG)
5. Kenyatta Walker (starting RT)
6. Sean Mahan (backup OG/C)
7. Jeremy Trueblood (backup OT)

For the final two roster spots, it will be a competition between Chris Colmer, Torrin Tucker, Toniu Fonoti and Jeb Terry. Like I said before, I'm not even sure Terry makes the team this year, much less starts.

Agreed, just yes, Mahan will be the center in 2007 for sure... May even take over part way through this year.

I agree with you 100%, and I would keep Tucker and Terry for the 8th and 9th spots, though it will come down to who has the best camp.

If Jeb Terry is our opening day RG then the Drafting of Davin Joseph will be looked as a mistake.

He will need a dominate, mistake free camp and pre-season games to win the starting job.
