Brian Milne, of the Tribune News, reports New Orleans Saints QB Jamie Martin will compete with QB Todd Bouman for the No. 2 quarterback job. The winner of the competition could be the starting quarterback for the first month of the 2006 season if QB Drew Brees (shoulder) is not ready to return from offseason shoulder surgery.

i like bouman....i think hes a good replacement until brees gets back

Considering Brees participated in the minicamp doing all but the deeper throwing....I'm not exactly sure where the "...could be the starter for the first month" is coming from.

He's got to be able to make all the throws, including the deep ones, before he is ready to start an NFL game. Im not saying he wont be ready, but if he cant make his normal deep throw, he shouldnt play.
