To bad about JR. I think he can be a good reciever for some team in the NFL.

Not surprised by any one of these picks. Paris Warren is further ahead than JR Russell at this point, but even he is a risk to get cut in the next round. I think WR is one of the most interesting positions in training camp, along with the depth chart of the Oline and backup secondary.

To tell the truth, this was my biggest suprise. I guess I am glad we have the linebacker depth that makes this move possible.

I would like to think that the coaches are giving Jermaine Taylor an opportunity to find a team that needs him. I hate to see him go, though.

Gessner is a JJ prototype and Gru loves the Kid. He is also making a name for himself on ST. He really looked like the only high note in the 2nd half of the Jags game...I hope he can keep it up...

Players I see that still need to show up for the Texans game...Boston ( not very impressive as of late), Zemaitis, haven't seen him out there much and Rattay he doesn't seem to have the playbook down quite yet, I expected him to operate at least better the Rob Johnson palyed in his 2nd or 3rd yr...

My two cents worth...

Chas Gessner is white???
I just thought it was his 6'4" 220 frame and route running, breaking free from the defensive player at the line, his tackling on STs... Not to mention when I watch the Buccaneers playing I see RED, PEWTER and yes WHITE... But I disslike the WHITIES....

TO's a sleeper

Since my membership was lost years ago after this board had a cat 5 hurricane strike it apparently I cannot start new threads, not that this is important and it's even off topic but I thought it might be entertaining to read this tidbit re TO:

IRVING, Texas - Terrell Owens overslept. That’s it.

He insists he wasn’t late for work Friday to send a messages to his bosses,
test his boundaries or anything else his critics might think.

And, get this: He says it’ll probably happen again, even if he was fined $9,500.

Phinisee and russell will be invited to the practice squad, if they dont get picked up.

How is Lightbody not cut yet?? he's the biggest stiff on the squad. We must really be hurting at the T position with depth

I guess Justin F didn't impress enough at CB.
No surprised here though!

What this tells me:

Dave Moore will be the LS and Jones will still be returning punts.

You sure about that? I would imagine the Bucs would like some of the players that are still on the roster for the practice squad. These first cuts are the worst at their positions (or no good at special teams either). If the Bucs wanted Phinisee and Russell on the practice squad, why would they let them go now? They'll be on the market longer.

I'm surprised by this, he's done well, but the Bucs invested a year in JR. He is big and we all know from listening to Gruden lately........."He's a big phyiscal guy, etc.." Every player he talks about you can find him saying the same thing. I think he has a height complex.

Thats actually not correct. The reason teams let some guys go early is so they can clear waivers and all the paper trail early so they can be used in practice the first week of the season, the late cuts are usually late returns.

I am surprised James Patrick isn't on that list after the terrible coverage against Jacksonville.

There is no way Zemaitis gets cut. He may have to show up to get playing time, but he os not getting cut. Also, we basicly went down the field against the Jags b/c boston was too fast to be covered and got to pass int calls. Had he not been interfered with he would have has to big catches for a lot of yards.

no big surprises... maybe Russell could make the practice squad sometime but doubt it.

Zemaitis and Boston are not getting cut simply because of the concept behind them.

Zemaitis is a 4th rounder, who played in a similar scheme in college, who with time will be our starter because there is no one else on the roster with similar potential.

Boston is a former pro bowler who has the potential to put up beastly numbers, and at the price, it's surely worth it. It's not as if he has dropped a ton of balls so far. I say give him another chance. Those two deep balls were a bit overthrown though, but he did seem a bit slow on them. I don't really think of him as a deep threat though, but more of a over the middle kinda guy.
