The OFFICIAL game day prayer thread.

DEAR LORD,

I come to you this morning with a heart full of excitement, cheer, and glee. Today is the first day of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football season, which you already knew of course, being their second biggest fan.

Please GOD, let both teams stay healthy through this game, let their muscles be stretched properly, let their padding take the blunt of all hits, and let their ham strings be able to handle all the twists, dodges, sips, ducks, dives, and dodges.

Please give our already injured offensive line the ability to block the Raven's defensive line, help them to pick up the blitz packages, and assist them in giving Chris Simms enough time to find the open reciver in the flat. Help them to hold onto their assigned man legally, and move him to the side, out of the way, so our cadillac can run through the giant holes they leave him.

Dear Lord, please help our young quarterback. Give him the abilility to add another foot or two to his passes over the middle so the Raven's defensive line won't be able to knock them down at the line of scrimmage. Let him see the best option for the pass on every down, and help him continue with his excellent accuracy on his deep throws. Please lord, if our line let's a defender through, help Simms run away form the pressure, going sideways or forward, and not backwards, like he likes to do.

GOD, help our Cadillac run like the finely tuned machine that he is, let those new shoes grip like new all terrain tires, give him the agility to miss multiple tacklers, and the power to run through those that he can't dodge. Make him invisible to Ray Lewis, so that madman can't cut him down with his cheap hits, help our Cadillac be the monster that all buc fans know he is.

Lord in heaven, give our recievers the speed to get deep, the agility to make those double cuts that our Coach loves so much, the jumping ability to grab the ball at it's highest point, and the hands to make whatever catch they have to.

My lord my SAVIOR, give our defensive linemen the power to bullrush through their offensive line, give them the agility to twist around their mammoth blockers, please remind Rice that he gets to the quarterback more often when he does an inside move, and let him know he should do that move more often, instead of trying to outrun his man around the outside on every play. AND PLEASE GOD, please, please, please, help Hovan to find their quarterback, and knock him flat on his behind before he can release the ball, if for no other reason, simply to give Mr. Mcirish one less thing to complain about.

GOD, help our secondary to find the ball while covering the recievers, help them to pick off those passes, and then find the end zone after they do. Give them the extra speed to be able to cover their assigned men without falling behind, and the e.s.p. to know when their assigned men are trying to do a double move and out-juke our defenders.

Help our linebackers to spot the play action pass, and help them to stop the ballcarrier behind the line of scrimmage, giveing the Ravens a day full of 3rd and longs, intead of 3rd and short.

FInally lord, help our special teams. Help them in every aspect of their game, from the kickoff and punt returns, to the tackling, to being able to contain their man without getting penalties called on them.

Thank you for hearing my prayers GOD, I know you'll find the time to give our boys a hand, right after you put on your Alstott jersey.

Can I get an AMEN?

My point was that football and religion dont mix, atleast not in the way this thread is meant to be. Praying for a safe game is one thing praying for a win is another.

SO you don't think the players pray for a win in the pregame prayer that they do before every game? As was said, you don't like it, don't read it.

NOW GIMME AN AMEN PEOPLE!!

No actually. ESPN did a show or atleast a part of a show on this very subject and they interviewed some former coaches and players and none of them said they would ever pray for a win.

Whatever do what you want I dont care I just find it weird that someone would pray for a win in a football game on the internet.

Give it a rest. You can pray anytime, any place, for any cause -- even a football win. "Whatsoever" is your concern, because their is POWER in prayer. This is an excellent counter measure, as you can best believe that their are some beseeching the Lord for the Bucs to fail miserably, on all fronts.

Like I said weird....

I also said do what you want. So go ahead and pray away!

You guys are a bit touchy though dont ya think? It's real easy to come off as some kind of religous wacko when you start talking about the POWER of prayer being applied to a football game. I figured with all the things going on in the world praying for a football game would be on the back burner thats all.

No. you are the one touchy

People can pray for whatever they want. Who are you to tell people what they SHOULD pray for? Or tell them what they CANT pray for.

Beware the Prayer Police!

Get a life and if you dont like the combination of Prayer and Football, dont enter a thread about PRAYER AND FOOTBALL!

GO BUCS!

I didnt tell anyone what they can or cant pray for. I said twice I dont care what you pray for I just thought it was strange that you would pray about football.

But hey lets not overreact and go off on people or anything...

I pray for safe games all throughout the NFL. I also pray for all the unfortunate around the world. Today finally marks off the start of Tampa's season, let's not use the power of pray for a win, but the power of a diehard bucs fan to root for their favorite team...THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERRRSS!!
