New findings behind former S Andre Waters' suicide
Eagles | New findings behind former S Andre Waters' suicide
Thu, 18 Jan 2007 10:43:05 -0800 Citing the New York Times, ESPN.com reports former Philadelphia Eagles S Andre Waters, who died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound last November, may have suffered from brain damage and depression, which ultimately could have led to his suicide, according to a leading forensic pathologist. The forensic pathologist, Dr. Bennet Omalu of the University of Pittsburgh, told The Times that the condition of Waters' brain tissue was what would be expected in an 85-year-old man, and there were characteristics of someone being in the early stages of Alzheimer's. The doctor said he believes the brain damage could have been due to successive concussions suffered during his career. When the news hit this board originally I was less that sympathetic to the situation. With these new findings I wanted to be the one to post, and offer an apology to anyone that may have been offended by my former remarks. I really had no idea of his problems. Imagine being that young and already in teh first stages of alzheimers. Rest in peace Andre Waters. May you find in the afterlife what you could never seem to find in life, peace.

Well that is sad news, and I am glad to see you post your apology about my original post. I am worried for the other guys with multiple concussions such as Wayne Chrebet.
