Leftwich may test the market.

Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Tom Condon, the agent for Jacksonville Jaguars QB Byron Leftwich, says he plans to meet with the team to discuss the quarterback's future. Condon would not say whether Leftwich is open to remaining with the team or whether he will seek a trade in the offseason. "It doesn't do me any good to speculate or talk about that kind of stuff," Condon said. "I have to gather the facts before I say anything or do anything."

If the Jags let him go his first stop has got to be Tampa Bay will the cap space that we have..

Condon will meet with Jaguars soon to discuss quarterback's future

no no no. i will say this once, we do not want leftwich, i live in jacksonville i go to a number of there games, when they got leftwich everyone was like "oh my god! yay!" the only thing he brings to the table is heart, hes like drew bledso, he holds on to the ball to much, and gets sacked all the time.

Technically he cannot test the market. he's not a FA. The jaguars can test it, but he will have no say so on where he goes unless they just release him, which I seriously doubt they will be willing to do. to my knowledge he has no contract buyout option, and if he does, I doubt he will execute it, it would cost him millions.

no1, you're kind of right, jags can allow him to search for a trade

however, take five, did you read all of the article?

Quote:
Del Rio does believe the Jaguars need better play from the quarterback position in 2007. When asked at the end of the season if the Jaguars could win with the quarterbacks on their roster, he said, "not by making the mistakes that we made at the end of the year."
this is the last paragraph, what he's pointing out is the mistakes made by garrard, who did all in his power to push away the starting job that he could've taken over

jacksonville isn't going to trade leftwich, or cut him, they're going to keep him on board and hope to sign him to an extension as long as possible

yes, they could, but again, they have the final say so in any trade. The team that wants him, that he may want to go to, may not be willing to give what the jags would ask, which I'm sure would be at least a first rounder, probably a 1st and 3rd.

Leftwich is an ok QB, he has an arm, but real clumsy on the feet.

I heard a lot on Jax SPorts Radio on this late Friday afternoon. Most are split as to whether Byron will help by being traded, or by being extended. Radio hosts agree those are the two options.

Condon is going to sell Byron as being a top 15 QB. I say he is stretching to get to top 25.

Naturally signing Mike Shula will help everything ....

If they don't sign him to a new deal now he becomes an UFA next year and if he refuses to accept the new offer then what?

Not much around here lately. The posts have gone to **** so I am just taking mine down to that level. According to the threads lately, the Bucs will sign every free agent, get every draftee available, every player unhappy with their current team, etc…

But for the record, Leftwich does indeed suck.

I really wouldn't like Leftwich here at all, with our offense we need a QB with a pretty quick release, and Leftwich is not the guy to be looking at if thats what you want.

why is that every FA that hits the market everyone thinks they are coming here? I wouldnt mind a FA qb coming in, but that doesnt mean we will sign them all.

Leftwich is NOT coming to Tampa. He is very far from what a Gruden quarterback should be. He does not have the accuracy or mobility to do anything here.
