What do you take from this?

I got this from CBS Sportsline Rumor Mill off NFL.com...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Updated:03/06/2007
The Tampa Tribune reports that the NFL has not received retirement papers from Jake Plummer, the former Broncos quarterback whose trade to the Bucs could be nullified if it's proved he retired before the trade was completed. Plummer might have to pay back roughly $5 million in prorated signing bonus money if he retires. That money would go to the team holding Plummer's rights.

My link- http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/NFL_SC-RUMOR

I am not entirly sure what the deal here is but what i take from it is that IF Jake Plummer retires the trade is nullified and we get our pick back, and it also says that $5 million in prorated signing bonus money may have to be paid back and it goes to the the team holding plummers rights, would that be us or would it go to denver since the trade is nullified?

Please dont jump my case, im just asking a question because im curious, much like everyone on here... Im asking a question all i want is an answer...

The money goes to us, but does not factor into our salary cap.

In essence, one of the Glazer boys gets a new vacation home.

Right, i knew it didnt go into our cap, but i knew it went some where, so im glad they get paid $5m for not doing anything, it would be nice if they would invest it back into the team!

To the team holding his rights, which in this case is Tampa Bay..We basically win either way..

Maybe the Glazers will use the cash to splurge for real cannons on the ship. Talk about a home field advantage!

I am wondering big time IF the FO of the Texans has talked to the FO of the Bucs and what we are asking for Jake. Is there anyone on D worth taking?

If the trade is nullified, like the article says, then Denver would get the money, because he would never have been a Buc.

He was not retired previous to the trade. The league still hasn't recieved his retirement papers. There is no way to nullify this trade anymore.

Thats where im getting confused, because he is a "memeber" of the bucs and the bucs hold the rights to him... So its a win, win, win deal then....

Win if he retires we get our pick back
Win if he retires we get $5 M
Win if he plays (maybe win) lol because then we get something from him...

No matter what happens, there is no way we will get our pick back AND the $5 million.

The pick in 08 is gone and its not coming back.
As long as we get like a 3rd for him(fat chance) we'll be fine.
