7 Round 2008 mock draft

From www.nfldraftblitz.com
I know its waaay to early to predict things like this now. But he has us picking 3rd overall, and taking Calais Campbell (DE) Miami. Do you guys really think we'd take another DE that early? I think either UT or QB. Hopefully not picking high enough for Brohm. But Glenn Dorsey would be a great fit at UT for us. Anyways, heres the Mock

My thoughts pretty much echo yours.

1) If we wound up drafting in the top 3, I'd be pretty darned disappointed if we missed out on Brohm. A franchise quarterback sure would be nice. Especially since a top 3 pick would, in all likelihood, mean Gruden would be gone, making this an awfully nice time to try to find one. But thems the breaks, I suppose.

2) I don't really see a DE either. Don't get me wrong, Campbell should be a heck of a player, but I'd rather go with a DT or an OT there, with a strong preference towards DT if one looks like it would make sense that high. And at this point at least, Dorsey seems the most likely person to be that guy.

Beyond that (speaking to the article, not you):

3) I can't say I much care for the idea of an OLB in the second. I know, Brooks scares me as well, but we just have so. many. linebackers.

4) Speaking of that, ANOTHER safety in the fourth? Ok, I can totally see Phillips at least being gone, but still. Just how many safeties does one team need?

5) I actually kind of like the Burton pick. I fully expect us to take a day 1 receiver next year, and Burton can return kicks. I'm not sure I wouldn't actually like to see us draft one higher though. Who knows though, I suppose. Maybe Clayton shows us some semblance of something this coming season.

Aren't the 31st and 32nd picks reserved for the teams in the Super Bowl? If so, I fail to see how both the Chargers and Patriots could occupy those spots, as they're in the same conference.

Also, Anthony Morelli would be nice. Now, if he had us trading down in the 1st to get Dan Connor, it'd be perfect!

plus look at the history of the recent draft

2007 nfl draft
1st WR CJ - big possession WR
2nd WR teddy - burner

2005 nfl draft
1st WR braylon -possession
2nd WR williamson - burner

2004 nfl draft
1st WR roy williams - big WR
2nd WR reggie williams - big WR
3rd WR lee evans - burner

2003 draft
1st WR andre johnson - big WR

usually the little burners aren't the first WRs taken, except in santonio holmes case, but he was taken in the 20s

even if they don't have sweed that early, he's definately going b4 27 or whatever they have him at

If we draft 3, it would basically say that this years 1st rounder was a waste, especially if we draft the same position again, as deep as we are there now.

Then again, if we are drafting top 3 after this season, I guess the entire team was a waste of space, kinda like this past season.

I think it wouldn't be a terrible pick either way. But if we wanted a UT, why not just go for the guy who IS that in Dorsey instead of trying to MAKE someone that in Campbell? I think Campbell and Gaines at ends wouldn't be the worst idea in the world either, whatever you can do to creat pressure. Calais is the most talented player left after 2 anyway, so why not?

it says they went by power rankings on about.com.

I am not sayin we are gonna win the superbowl but I really dont see us picking in the top 5, hopefully not even in the top 10.

here is hoping for

brohm
dorsey
sam baker

we will just have to trade up to grab one of them.

Josh Pinkard of USC will be drafted ahead of Terrell Thomas...

Brian Cushing will be drafted in the first two rounds..

Patrick Turner will be drafted somewhere as well..

I hope we get Glenn Dorsey..

And Limas Sweed isn't even the best WR in the Big 12 South...If he's the first picked, someone should be fired.

but if you really would have had a chance to get mcfadden wouldnt it have been better to use that 2nd round pick on edwards, beck or stanton.

those 3 qb's could easily be as good as quinn and you would have a great rb to go along with one of them.

nope

think about it

franchise QB>franchise RB

there's only 1 RB that has really stood out with a bad QB in the last few years

The point was with your 2nd round pick you could have gotten a qb almost as good as quinn then next year added mcfadden.

2 players for 1

first of all, there's no guarentee for mcfadden next year

second of all, edwards, stanton, and beck are nowhere near quinn in talent

alright I was with you about all that other stuff you said about quinn but now I have to agree with some other people that are in love with quinn. I heard a lot of people saying quinn wasnt worth much more then the other guys.
Quinn is the better prospect no doubt but you cant really say the other guys are "nowhere near quinn in talent"

I know there is no gaurentee for mcfadden but any of those 3 qb's + mcafadden is better then quinn alone

Quinn is the better prospect no doubt but you cant really say the other guys are "nowhere near quinn in talent"

I know there is no gaurentee for mcfadden but any of those 3 qb's + mcafadden is better then quinn alone
there is a significant drop off in talent between quinn and the 2nd tier QBs in this draft

with edwards, stanton, and beck, you're looking at 2 decent college QBs and edwards who only started for what, 1 or 2 years. stanton was often injured, beck played some good games at BYU but never truly stood out, plus he's 3 years older than everybody else, and edwards was a guy whose numbers sucked be he had the "physical tools" to be a good QB

all these guys were hype QBs, Quinn is a more polished player who played in a pro system under a coach who knows a thing or 2 about QBs

I agree that quinn is a better prospect then the others.

what I find extemely funny is that you would call the other guys hyped.

Quinn even though I think he will be alright is probably (because of his coach and the school he went to) the most hyped player to come out in a while.

If you mean more hyped in relation to his actual talent and performance, there has been no one more hyped in recent memory.

how can you not say beck and edwards and stanton were hyped

stanton you can make an arguement for, but nobody had edwards or beck anywhere near the 1st day until they worked out

Panthers taking two more USC guys...please no more Trojans in the NFCS if they are not Bucs. I wouldn't mind getting Rivers in the 2nd at all, but I would love to get Maualuga if we can.
