Nensey's Bucs offensive game analysis, Second Half
Overall Posession Five
Run to the weak side by Darby for six-good run here considering that's our line's weakpoint in the G and T positoins. I like how decisive Darby was. He could easily become like Tom Brady if someone above him falters. (he played in a tough atmosphere at Alabama playing against quality defenses) Darby to the weakside for fifteen-once again, very decisive. McCown to Stevens for 8-there was very good protection here and I like how McCown is spreading the ball around. Darby up the middle for no gain-the line had no movement whatsoever here. McCown sacked-Darby actually blocked down on the passrusher, but the play failed because no one got open. I don't like the play call here either, it was third and short, and Darby was running with a hot foot. Drive Analysis-the drive started out well, but later the line seemed to start breaking down. McCown seemed a little less agressive than he was in the first half, considering he didn't scramble. Possession Six Bruce Gradkowski enters the game. Darby run for no gain to the weakside-The O-line seems to be slowing down here. They haven't blocked well lately. Gradkowski to Darby for 13-good use of some of that play-action credit. I like how Darby got open so quickly. Gradkowski to Stevens for four-the protection really broke down here, so Grads had to improvise. He managed to shovel pass to Stevens, so not bad. Gradkowski to Heinrich for five-good play in the middle of the field here. Grads made a good decision here to get close to a first down. Gradkowski keeper for no gain-I can't really say anything here except I feel they should have tried some play-action bootleg. That might have gotten the First down. Gates outside for three-a good result, but a bad play. You ALWAYS have to follow your FB unless you recognize that there isn't anything the way he's going. Gates could have gotten a lot bigger play if he had stayed behind his FB. He made it harder than he had to. Gradkowski to Heinrich for eight-not a bad play in the middle of the field here. Gradkowski is showing some decent flashes tonight. Gates for two, first down-he did a better job of following the blocking here and moved the change with some intelligent running. Gradkowski incomplete deep-Is this the guy who started in the NFL last year? He sure doesn't look like it. he got lucky that there wasn't an INT on this play, the NE guy dropped it. Gates for 2-considering it was a draw play, it wasn't bad. I can't say much either way about this play. Shotgun snap-Gradkowski to Warren for a FD-I like how Gradkowski performed on this play. I think the yardage was thirteen or fourteen on the play, but I don't recall. The protection was good here. Gates fumbles on a toss play-I don't think this need any explanation. Gates really just cost himself some standing in the run to be the number three guy. Drive analysis-there were some good flashes, but all in all I actually didn't like the drive. The O didn't do a good job of protectiong the QB quite a bit of the time, and Gradkowski was forced to improvise quite a bit. It seems clear that Gates has a lot of work to do as evidenced by the fumble and his play isn't all that great either, kind of sloppy in fact. Grads did some good things even under pressure, but he seems to have regressed and made a couple of stupid decisions. The playcalling was ok for the most part. [U]Possession 7[/U} Darby run to the strong side for 21-great play by Darby here, he's having an outstanding night. He's also showing very good vision in addition to his decisiveness. Darby run to the strong side for 9-more of the same. Darby up the middle for three-he moved the chains here and showed good discipline in staying with his FB. Gradkowski incomplete, ball thrown away-why are you throwing it when Darby is running like there's no tomorrow? Gradkowski incomplete, ball dropped-same thing here, though Grads is making good decisions for the most part. Gradkowski incomplete from shotgun-nothing but the same as last play. Drive analysis-why did Gruden stop running the ball. I realize he must be annoyed about how Grads is playing, but you don't just go around and start making him throw the ball on every down. This was a very bad play-call. Possesion 8 Gates runs to the strong side for three-Gruden clearly has given Gates some time to regroup mentally. It wasn't a bad play for the most part and Gruden is showing some trust here. Gradkowski overthrows Kyle Smith-bad play on the part of Gradkowski. Looks like Gruden's playbook is getting people open, but Grads is not executing now. Gradkowski to someone (no clue who) for a first down-much better. I like how Grads made a quick decision here. Gates for three-a decent play up the middle. I like that Gruden is showing more committment to the run. Darby for seven and a FD-another strong play by Darby. Darby for three up the middle. That interior running game is pretty decent right now. Darby weakside run for five-and so is the outside. This is in the two minute drill as well, so the running game looks clutch now too. Darby for 1 weakside-good playcall, we're just cutting clocktime. Darby for two strongside-same as last. Clock is now running down to one second. Bryant kicks game-winner from 31 yards out. Need I say more? Overall game analysis The running game looked very, very strong, with the exception of Lionel Gates. I liked the potential I saw from Darby, and Pittman looked decent as well. However, the o-line protection was shoddy at times and would have given up more sacks if our QBs hadn't improvised so well. The starters will also need some more work so Garcia can get more in sync with his recievers.

Great read once again. I think that you would get more readers if you waited a bit and put both halves in the same thread. Also, more spaces between lines would make the thread easier to read. A lot of people back out of a thread when they see a big block of text...
Maybe you should format it like so: Overall Posession Five 1. Run to the weak side by Darby for six-good run here considering that's our line's weakpoint in the G and T positoins. I like how decisive Darby was. He could easily become like Tom Brady if someone above him falters. (he played in a tough atmosphere at Alabama playing against quality defenses) 2. Darby to the weakside for fifteen-once again, very decisive. 3. McCown to Stevens for 8-there was very good protection here and I like how McCown is spreading the ball around. 4. Darby up the middle for no gain-the line had no movement whatsoever here. 5. Possession Six (Bruce Gradkowski enters the game.) 1. Darby run for no gain to the weakside-The O-line seems to be slowing down here. They haven't blocked well lately. 2. Gradkowski to Darby for 13-good use of some of that play-action credit. I like how Darby got open so quickly. 3. etc. etc. Just an idea...

Thanks. I hope this does appease the legends on this board though, I wasn't that in depth I think.

You shouldn't do it to "appease the legends on the board." You should do it to promote some actual good conversation in TD. I think that was the point of Chronic's call for better writing: to get people to put some effort into these threads to make it better for everyone, not for the purpose of entertaining the legends. It was very well written and the amount of depth was great for a play by play analysis. Thanks.

Fairness is my thing here. If Gruden is doing something right, I'll give him credit for it. If he's blowing his play-calling, then I will criticize him. Same with the players.
