CK22's Thoughts about the Bucs Offseason
The football season's back, and pre-season is underway. Now it's time to reflect on the offseason. Here are my thoughts...
1. The biggest gain of the offseason, in my opinion, was the addition of Cato June. Brooks has a few years left in him, and it's time to look to the future. June, who spent the rest of his career with the Colts, is used to a cover two defense. He is quick, and is always in position to make plays. His tackling needs work, however, because he missed far too many tackles in Indianapolis. Cato June will be the future of our WLB spot, when Brooks has retired. Gives the defense some much needed youth, and should energize the rest of the team. 2. The draft: This was a defensive heavy draft, starting with DE Gaines Adams. Adams is a speed rusher from Clemson, who has trouble stopping the run. He must work on his strength, because if he doesn't, he will never develope into a great DE. Our first second round pick, Arron Sears, is an offensive guard. He is a very strong guard, and is able to push the defense around. He has the potential to be our LG of the future. Our other second round pick, Sabby Piscitelli, is a hard hitting safety. He is a playmaker, who many compare to John Lynch. In my opinion, he should start by the midway point of the season. Quincy Black, the Bucs third round pick, like Cato June, has the potential to replace Derrick Brooks. 3. This offseason, we adressed the LT position by adding veteran Luke Petigout. Although he isn't the future of the LT position, he will help Cadillac stay on his feet, and should protect the QB's blind side. He does have injury problems, and will need to stay healthy in order to contribute. Should be a big upgrade to our offensive line. ![]() Last edited by Cadillac Kid 22; 08-13-2007 at 02:58 PM.. |

Your third reason sucks. Luke Petitgout is dealing with a back injury that has been nagging him for years. Today was the first day he competed in training camp. Offensive tackles that get shown the door and put down by the owner plus with bad back problems ? Derrick Deese version 2.0

I believe that Cato June will be the only FA we picked up this offseason to still be on the team in two years.

and maybe even J Warren, WR too, will all be with the team in two years. Just my opinion. |

I don't really consider Boston a FA pickup this year since he tried out for the team last year, Sims MAY be here in two years but like someone already pointed out we acquired him in a trade, he wasn't a sign. Chukwurah I could see being here still in two years though.

I'm banking on Sims not being here next year. I don't know if anyone else caught the last couple of trades that we made like this.....
