It's time to make the switch.

Move June to the weakside and Brooks to the strongside.

Brooks looked great when he was fresh, but as the game went on, he wore down, bad.

June was obviously playing out of position and it showed.

June is younger and faster.
Brooks would do better on the strongside because he could take plays off when we go nickle, which would keep him fresher for the game.

It's time to make the switch.

Question is, why wasn't it done before the season started? Anyone with some sense can tell Brooks is done and June is hitting his prime.

I've been hoping we'd do this since we signed June.

Dear god, hell has frozen over. We agree on something.

Although I would say you don't necessarily have to have your 4-3 WLB on the field in the nickel (just pick your two best coverage LBs, no matter their usual position in the 4-3).

I think Brooks and June should split the Will snaps in the 4-3 and Brooks should come off the field in the nickel. 25-30 snaps...he'll be more productive and less of a liability.

Brooks gets older every down IMO

Taking a couple downs off would be good for ol' boy

With all due respect to what should be a hall of fame LB, I hope this is his last year as a full time player/starter. Like you said, his first half was great. Adrenaline and fresh legs can and will give way to the real player, which is an aging one. I was hoping one of these young draftee's would step up and make the decision easier for the coaches, but they aren't ready apparently. Cato June can excel wherever he plays, so he can play wherever he is most productive. Hopefully he can lead the defense is some capacity in the coming years.

That would work fine, we just need to keep brooks fresher through the season and get June on his natural side of the ball.

This may be the first time I have actually agreed with you.

I assumed that this switch was to be made when we signed June. It wasn't just Sunday's game. There has been a clear decline in Brook's play that really began to show in '05.

Maybe Montes getting old and a little thick. The change has to be made sooner rather than later as #55 was getting embarrassed in the second half Sunday.

Obviously the fault of Jon Gruden. After all, he is to blame for all the teams problems, age has nothing to do with it.

Brooks should play the strongside, with June on the weakside, and Ronde should move over to nickel on passing downs, with P-Buc taking Ronde's spot on the outside. If there are concerns about Ruud in those situations, we also have Will Allen and Sammy Davis in the fold.

Crazy, no?

Couldn’t agree more, June is a weak side LB and should play there. Brooks is Brooks a HOF’er but it’s time to put the best players in their best spots.

I hope we don’t Rice him, meaning I know Rice was hurt last year and all that but he was kept out there six games longer than he should have been weakening the D-line.

june was a weak side lb in indy... but their weakside is our strongside... so for those of you saying he is playing out of position are wrong

I doubt it. I doubt we've even approached him about it, but this is a business, and respect can't overshadow results. Results right now aren't there for Brooks.

I think either way, this is his last year in Tampa. Maybe he'll be in Denver next year, when they move DJ Williams to the middle.

Its all based on whether its an over or under front. The terminology gets flip flopped around (weakside becomes strongside, undertackle becomes overtackle). The key is to look at which LB is lined up on the same side as the 3 technique tackle.

But more importantly, Brooks needs to be off the field in nickel.

I've been thinking the same thing.
