SYMPOSIUM SLUGGERS IDENTIFIED
Posted by Mike Florio on July 2, 2008, 10:51 p.m.

We’ve been able to confirm via two sources the names of the rookies who were involved in a symposium slugfest.

The players were Aqib Talib and Cory Boyd. Talib was a first-round pick of the Buccaneers; Boyd was a seventh-round selection of the same team.

The players were in a budget and finances meeting, where rookies from four teams were gathered. Talib and Boyd had been jawing at each other for a while, and it came to a head during that specific session.

Obviously, that slow-arsed average-talent Boyd provoked Talib, probably jealous of Talib's first-round selection. I'm guessing he insulted a family member.

They are trying to keep it quiet, but rotoworld and a few other sites have already caught wind of this so I this will NFL.com and ESPN.com tomorrow most likely.

Why cant these 2 idiots just act like grown men and conduct themselves accordingly.

nice. the future "face of this defense" vs the 7th round practice squad fodder. talib need not worry, body might not make it past training camp.

  • Boyd was suspended by South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier in 2005. Boyd was forced to apologize upon returning in 2006, after scoring a touchdown and uttering for the camera, “I’m back! I’m back liked cooked crack!”
  • As one league source explained Talib to us on Wednesday night, “Trouble just follows Talib. . . . He can’t help himself, and it’s never his fault.”

I'm guessing Boyd started it.

My money is on Boyd winning, but I think it would be cool if Talib took on a big guy like him. I like the fight shows a little passion, just better not be stupid as well.

I guess offense and defense can't get along. Big surprise there.

Maybe some jealousy or envy. I hoped they learned something from it.

Because they will be sweating their ***** off in Mouseville and won't have

time to continue it there. Bet on that.

Lets get this straight...

These guys aren't in pads, they aren't in the heat of battle... yet they take swings with a teammate while in a meeting room?

Talib just lost a lot of money and sped up his signing process

Boyd should be losing his thin chance at making an NFL squad

Just registered here for the 1st time in June. PM was from Admins to me.
If you have problems with my presence here, contract Admins.

Cory Boyd is my homeboy. He never got into any fights at SC...we would have heard about it...believe me. He was a team leader and was a spokesperson at SEC media days last year. I seriously doubt he started something...how many fights the other guy been into?

Back like cooked crack?

Boyd was a punk in college and appears he still is.. Talib is a known drug user... I gotta believe with Boyd's statement about crack.. This rumble probably was about drugs.

Nice picks Gruden

I imagine these two idiots need not worry about budget and finance. They are both the blow all your money as soon as you get it types.

SYMPOSIUM SLUGGERS IDENTIFIED
Posted by Mike Florio on July 2, 2008, 10:51 p.m.

We’ve been able to confirm via two sources the names of the rookies who were involved in a symposium slugfest.

The players were in a budget and finances meeting, where rookies from four teams were gathered. Talib and Boyd had been jawing at each other for a while, and it came to a head during that specific session.

Few are surprised by the development. Boyd was suspended by South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier in 2005. Boyd was forced to apologize upon returning in 2006, after scoring a touchdown and uttering for the camera, “I’m back! I’m back liked cooked crack!”

Talib’s draft stock fell due to repeated positive drug test results while at Kansas. As one league source explained Talib to us on Wednesday night, “Trouble just follows Talib. . . . He can’t help himself, and it’s never his fault.”

It’s unknown whether the players were or will be disciplined.
