Thumbs up Kudos to Rich, Jon and the Glazers...

The 'Zero Tolerance' policy has been re-established at One Buc Place and order will soon be restored. We should be thanking the organization for keeping their priorities straight... they are concerned about WINNING and not about sitting back on their lavish investments. Hopefully this will scream to the current players and future players that certain actions and attitudes will not be tolerated.

The Buccaneers are a world-class organization and they saved a lot of dignity today... if not the season.

Absolutely

Positively!

It's got me pumped, seeing the team commited to being a TEAM, no matter what.

Nice post.

Yea... i lost alot of respect for keyshawn, but it is still hard to see him go... but it's for the better of the team becoming unified again, give ME the damn ball, he isnt our whole team, he has to grow up and realize that.

Absolutely.

I was going to start a very similar thread.

I like the fact that the Buccaneers are taking this step.

I've always sat back and watched the Vikings and how they dealt with Moss and the 49ers with Owens, etc.

I've always wished some of these teams would take a moral stand.

Not that I think the Bucs are all the way there yet.

Quality post. Keyshawns investment is now like Enron. Makes you really appreciate how we got Mccardell-free agent and a reasonable contract...what a concept!

Right, there is still a certain 'hummer' issue yet to be dealt with.

I, for one, have to apologize to everyone on this board because for the last two months I've been sticking up for Keyshawn like I was his agent or something. I've been blasting the media for spreading rumors about him and his relationship with Gruden and the rest of the team, and I really believed he was trying to do his best with an injured thigh. Now I really feel like a dunce!

I'm one of those people who enjoy some trash talking from the players, and I suppose I was just trying to give a very talented player, who I liked and admired, the benefit of the doubt. I really thought that Keyshawn was a team player and only wanted to do what was best for the team. I thought all the crap being spread around about him was a result of the Bucs media conspiracy!

Please, if I insulted any of you while trying to stick up for someone I truly looked up to, I offer my humble apology and ask for your forgiveness.

Don't worry about it. It wasn't exactly advertised that he was skipping practices and functions. A lot of us use to respect him, but we don't any longer.

I think this is a great response. You are speaking for a lot of fans, like myself, who downplayed any issues with Key not being a team player. We are Buc fans, and like any other sports fans, we are biased to whoever dons the colors and will find ways to support controversial players, even when we know its against our better judgment.

When Key first came to the team, I think most of us were shocked at some of his actions (flipping the bird to reporters during practices, etc) and we were not used to having a 'bad boy' image. Well, since his arrival, that image has been growing slowly but surely... like a cancer. But who can really see that through red and pewter glasses??

Well, Rich and the rest of the surgeons decided to finally operate... and the prognosis looks good! Yes, the red and pewter was stripped from a fine player today. A player who helped win the Bucs a championship. But no man is an island... and it was up to the organization to balls up and set things straight.

Did you happen to catch his interview with Michael Irvin??? I swear he sounded just like Leon when he referred to himself in third person.... "Keyshawn might have a bad day but Keyshawn doesn't call the plays" ...LOL... let's call him 'KEON'.

I'm trying to understand exactly what the "priorities" are.
Pittman can be charged with felony domestic abuse. Cosey Coleman can beat up on women. Dwight Smith can pull guns on people. Sapp can run off at the mouth with racist comments, run up league fines, and have more illegitimate children than sacks. And Kenyatta Walker can get in fights on the field and stall important offensive drives with personal fouls.
But, heaven forbid, if player complains that he wants to score more touchdowns and see a more productive offense, HE is a "distraction" to the team.
Interesting priorities ya'll have.

The difference between keyshawn and these other players you mentioned is that Keyshawn didn't even want to be with the bucs or play for gruden. These players didnt tell their authority that they did not want to be a part of the organization next season.

The problem is this a****** missed team functions and that is a direct disrespect towards you're fellow teammates. But I agree with what you said above. They are just different type of problem.

Pittman:

His off the field problems do not affect the team. Once he gets sentenced in court, he won't be a Buccaneer. But until that time, he is. It's as simple as that.

Smith:

Same thing as Pittman. He won't get sentenced to jail time like Pittman, but it's not causing a problem on the field.

Sapp:

Who cares what he does off the field? As long as it's not something really serious.

Walker:

Believe me, he's only out there because of injuries. If Gruden puts in Mahan or some rookie they just drafted, we lose every game very easily. Green has been playing well it seems, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Walker benched once Oben and Whittle are ready to go again. If he does start at RT, that's okay, because he doesn't have any problems on that side.

Keyshawn Johnson was causing problems for the team on the field. It's not really that hard to understand what the priorities are.
