I do…I’ll tell ya.
And let me just say that I’m not alone. My whole family was sitting around the din din table the other night and discussing how much of a void Richard left. My youngest son brought up a darn good point. He said, “Pa, McKay and Gruden probably didn’t really get along as much as we think they did.” As he said this, I put down my last bite of southern meatloaf and thought to myself, “This isn’t out of the question. Gruden’s ego may have hurt Richard’s feelings a bit.” So I ask you, the masses, the pewter pirates, and the swashbuclers out there, do you miss McKay? If so, why and what do you think is the real, honest to goodness, answer for him leaving. I’m starting to have second thoughts about Gruden and the rest of the Malcolms.

P42, we still up for this weekend? My family can't get enough of your vast knowledge of football. Ever since meeting you, they've turn into the biggest Rob Johnson fans. I still can't believe that we got rid him.

Well, I'm glad you're on my side Al. Little Tony and Vinny may just turn out into gurus like myself one day. I guess that's one bright spot about Richard leaving. Maybe Rob will be back in red and pewter next season....we can only hope. Tell Rosemarie to set 7 extra chairs at the din din table for me and the gang.

I won't tell mom that you're on to her "favorite perfume". I'll make sure to "accidently" forget to bring her along this time. I won't be able to stay too long though. She gets upset if I'm not home by 9 to massage her calves. Gotta do whatcha gotta do ya know?

I won't miss the traitorous little worm.
I'm not FROM Tampa originally, so I'm not blindly in love with the guy as many down here, but I can see where some of you do. His dad was 1st coach (loudmouth bum) blah, blah... His nepotistic father (loudmouth bum) installed him and he's remained since... How would someone from Tampa who's had a Mckay or another for 20+ years not miss him? I started to loathe him with his 1st flirtation with the scummy birds. Then, he further angered me with his outrageous drafting last year. Now, again he's flirted and is now banging Blank and the sleaze birds. Disgusting, traitorous, wrong, heresy. GO to the Cardinals, go to the Steelers, but do NOT go to a hated division rival. Pure classless act. I also hate McKay for his recent remarks that prove him to be a hypocrite. He blames Gruden for wanting players with "questionable" character yet HE drafted Sapp, HE ok'd Pittman, HE traded for MeShawn. Please. Turncoat. Throw Rich in the Bay...then he can rest with the fishes |

Miss him? Yeah. Anything I can do about it? No.
It's time to move on. Rich did, so should we.

I, for one, do miss Richard. The guy brought nothing but positivism to the Bucs and I, for one, am for positivism. Without Keyshawn, Sapp, Brooks, Duncan, Lynch, etc. We wouldn't have gone all the way.
BTW, Al and Dragonslayer, the wonder bread gimmick is getting a little old. The kids are looking for something new. Maybe some of that raisin swirl stuff from Pepperidge Farms.

I'm glad you can have so much closure son. I get attached, don't know why, but I do. What I can't stand is change. I went to the store down the street yesterday and they moved everything around. I knew exactly where everything was and then, whammo!, everything is flipped flopped. Drove me quite perterbed.

Well Paul, all I have to say is I enjoy your weather forecastments every day, but your theory on Rob Johnson is way off, but I'll keep that for another thread. If you're interested search for my thread about Rob and find out why he is kept under lock and key.

The real Rob Johnson is out there enjoying the west coast, patiently waiting another chance to exceed. The problem is that the NFL doesn't like Rob and is trying to keep him down.

Until the Glazers appoint someone else i think it maybe too soon to say if we will miss him.
The new GM will also need time to do things there way, but we all know for sure in 12 months time |

It's never too soon Charles, never too soon. The guy (Richard) was a key component of the Super Bowl dynasty we had here in Tampa Bay. Without him, we'd be without Lynch, Sapp, Duncan, Jones, Rice, Brooks, Jackson, Barber, Abraham, Kelly, Dilfer, Johnson, Walsh, Erickson, etc.

No...and if I had any inclination to miss him, it would have died when I saw the pictures of him at Atlanta's practice. He is obviously a mercenary (well, he is an attorney so we should have known that) and never gave a damn about the Bucs beyond what it could do for him. |

I think it's time to move on. Rich left a few in the office who can move on up and go on with the flow. Like him or not, Gruden is our future and until that changes it's still GO BUCS!
Rich had successes and he had failures with the Bucs but he's a Falcon now and time will tell if he turns them around.

We are all big boys and big girls and we will get over Rick McKay in a hurry. Most of us respect him for his many contributions over they years but it is not impossible to find fault with some of his moves.
Rich, in my opinion, burned bridges behind himself in the way he left Tampa. He stiffed the Glaziers on the contract that had 5 years remaining, he asked the Glaziers to make it easy to leave with their not asking for compensation, he admitted he hadn't been a very good general manager for the last few months, he looked directly into the camera, with Chip Carter by his side, and told the world that he would stay with the Bucs. Then he went to work for a direct competitor. Considering the lack of respect and loyalty that Rich Mckay showed us, I have no trouble returning the same to him. Rich was an important part of Buccaneers history. But during his 9 years as general manager, 8 other teams won Super Bowls without him and another will again this year. He is not a god, just a pretty good general manager. His braintrust is still intact -- his associates at One Buccaneers Place -- and we can do well without him. As for his father, the late John McKay -- Coach McKay had a quick wit and I understand most people who knew him, liked him. But he was a lousy pro football coach.
