1st post ever...

Everybody,

Went to the games when I was a kid in late 70's. Haven't lived in Tampa since (79) but I have rooted for them EVERY year since. I love the BUCS but I am very disappointed with the first game.....WHY, you ask....

Last year their problem was offensive line, offensive line, offensive line. Penalties, no protection, poor blocking, can't block for field goals, etc etc.............(yes there are always other issues, but that is the number 1 problem in my opinion)

I pretty muched resigned last year half way through that they would struggle but I would look forward to next season when Gruden could fix the o-line in off season. I am extremely distressed that they cannot block for the run or the pass. I can honestly say without a solid o-line you can not compete at a high level. I don't care what kind of great receivers or backs you have, you are screwed.

It's like this. You can live in a house built on sand or on a firm foundation. The o-line is the foundation. 2 options. If you can't fix the o line get a mobile quarterback (vick, culpepper, etc). If you have a great o line get a pocket passer (marino, brad johnson) not to say brad johnson is marino by any means but I think you get the point.

The sad thing is, I don't think you can fix the o line now. Its to late. We can beat teams whose defenses suck but if they are good I see us struggling.

Am I crazy...? I think it is so obvious what the problem is...and NO it is not Brad Johnson. The system must fit the players!

Minor issue......throw the frickin football down the field more than 5-10 yards. It does no good to drive 50 yards in 8 - 10 minutes and punt. They actually did take more chances downfield it wasn't as bad as last year. Also when it is 3rd down stop throwing completions before the fricken marker. Jeez!

Sorry just had to rant I can put up with minor issues.....just fix the offensive line or get a mobile quarterback! But make a decision come on Gruden!

Thanks for listening

Good first post if in fact it is your first. As you mentioned our problem last season started with the O line, Gruden being the Genius that he is claimed to be, went out and acquired all these so call great offensive line players, "The Answers" without taking into consideration that he cannot change players on the offensive line every year, more than in other position continuity means a lot to any O line, I do not disagree that changes were necessary but do not change a 1997 Supra for a 1987 Yugo. If you claim to be a great talent evaluator go ahead and bring in the talent that will have time to play together for as a minimum 3 years, don't bring players that have not done jack for worst teams and think that those players are the answer. Until Gruden realizes that he will not and cannot make a better offensive line with old players we will find ourselves in the same situation. I say let's start fresh and let the guys that will be here longer than a year get some consistency even if we go 0-16, there's no real difference between 0-16 and 7-9 when you start to rebuild from the ground, don't ever start building from the 7th floor up because eventually it will crumble to the ground and that is what we are witnessing right now.

It's one game.
Yes the O line needs work. Yes the FB and HB need to pick up blitz.
Yes the WR need to catch the ball.
It will be fixed. Just have a little faith in the bucs.
It was the first game of the year, on the road, in a hostile environment. We never made them pay once for the blitz was the key to the game.
go bucs....

This is why we will be seeing Chris Simms starting next season (probably). Unless Johnson's numbers by the end of the season are jaw-dropping, expect #2 to be the #1 in town. He is more mobile than Johnson with slightly less accurate passing ability and just about the same (if not better) arm strength. Don't worry pal. Our O-Line will gel this season sooner or later, and when it does, everyone will know it. The guys on the line know how to play football, just not together in this system yet. But don't worry.

Pewter you are such an idiot, where an when did Gruden ever say "I'm a Genius",when did he ever say"I'm a great talent evauluator"just because other people have said that about him,its his fault???You're such an anti Buc fan that its sickening.Everything you post is negative. How about this,DON'T WATCH THEN,you have a choice you know,or are you that stupid that you don't know, anyways nobody is putting a gun to your head saying "You must like Gruden or you must support the team even though you don't like the head coach"but please quit the whineing and crying, you sound like such a little B-I-T-C-H.Don't support the team if you don't like the direction its going,we don't need fans like you anyway loser

It has been proven that everything that you see and hear in your household at the end it's carried on to their children, is this how your Dad refered to his spouse?

No, I am not a Giants fan. In fact If I had a dollar everytime growing up in school that I said "you just wait and see, one day the bucs will win the super bowl" I would be a rich man......if I could only go back and get my dignity from all those kids....

Anyway I tend to get negative on the bucs too quickly from all those years of rooting for them when they sucked. Although I can put up with a lot more now because of the super bowl win that will last me a while at least we have some respect!

I just want them to win more now I guess....By the way did anyone else cry when they saw Lynch in a Broncos uniform....sniff sniff

no I love the Bucs
