Black Sheep, Snake, Fox

I woke up this morning sweating because of a dream! There was a black sheep, an invisible fox, 54 midgets … sorry small people and a chicken. In the dream, the sheep leads the midgets, and one chicken, to this huge field elaborately decorated and adorned with silver, gold and diamond statues. In the center of the field was a huge feast of crow and foot and egg! On one end of the field were thousands upon thousands of $100 bills falling from the sky and on the other end, 4 big screens airing reruns of What’s Happening Now in Dolby 5.1!

Well, if you could imagine, the small people and the chicken had a major decision as for what direction might they go! All of a sudden, hero emerged to help solve their dilemmas. A hero of profound character and leadership… a golden cobra! It had to be at least 30 feet long! “I’ll help you” he exclaimed! “I alone can provide for you all you see here! You, my fairly small people can have it all. Your leader the black sheep misleads you! I will show you the way!” So, off they went on a whirlwind of gluttony through this field eating and laughing and dancing in money! Oh the joy!

BUT! What was this! The snake, who had delivered such joy, seemed to be fighting with himself! Coiling and striking at what seemed to be nothing! The black sheep simply smiled and said to the team… “Fear not! It’s only the tirades of and old and foolish glutton who has clearly lost his mind.” But the small ones were fearful and worried that the one who led them into this blissful feast could be in trouble; disturbed! Then a glimpse, a vision! Was it the fox? He was killing their hero! Alas! “Help him, help him,” the chicken shouted! And just as the small ones were about to help their new hero, a giant war bird appeared from the sky with talons of finely polished steel, which radiated a blinding light to stun the small ones. A second later the snake and the bird were gone!

After the affects of the light wore off, the small ones found themselves disoriented, extremely bloated and very, very tired. They could no longer move, no longer think clearly! Just then, the fox appeared as if it were out of thin air and shouted “I’ve been watching… learning and waiting to… POUNCE!” The fox was very annoyed that the small ones allowed themselves to wither away into a fraction of what they once were. Mighty giants who made the earth and the people tremble with every step! “He lies,” exclaimed the chicken! “I am a disciple of the hero he attacked and banished!” He and 20 of the small ones aggressively approached the fox, but in the blink of an eye, the sheep charged the mob and drove them back! Angered from the betrayal, the fox used his magic and turned the other 20 into chickens and ordered them to leave!

The black sheep saw the disarray the remaining small people were in and offered words of wisdom and leadership! “It will be a long and hard journey back,” the black sheep said! “ With so few resources, we will have to make tough sacrifices and some of you may parish on this voyage!” You see, the black sheep was leading them to the field to enjoy “some” of the treasures, some of the feast, some of the entertainment, and some of the riches, but alas, it was all consumed recklessly! And now all must pay the price! There was to be enough to make the trip back! But now…

Webster's:

A figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity

I understand your point (not a bad one at that), but you may not want to do that again. Some of the English majors will tear up your writing, punctuation and such. Others will ask what you mean and still others will just flame you because they didn't "get it".
